Welcome to the blog!
Welcome to my first official blogpost! After being a teacher’s assistant at SUNY Oswego I’ve come to realize that teaching is something I really enjoy and I hope that this blog will serve as a learning tool for anyone interested in video production or related fields. I have always respected professionals in the field that keep a blog because I believe a true professional is not afraid to share the “secrets of the trade.” Not to say I am a top-notch professional myself, but I am striving to gain that status everyday. During the past year or two I’ve begun to break into the freelance world as I wrap up my college career. I will continue this blog as I move into the professional world, hopefully working for a professional production agency in the near future. I hope to make a post after each production day I have, so you can follow each work’s progress. I’ll try to keep everything to the point, covering technical and creative aspects of each production day, the people I meet, the challenges I face, equipment I use, etc.
I can tell you now that it’s going to be a busy summer. I am currently gearing up to shoot a documentary in July for which I will be in Boston, NY, Philly, Baltimore, D.C., Columbus, Cincinnati, Louisville, Indianapolis, Chicago, Detroit, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, and Buffalo, all in 30 day’s time! Phew, 14 cities in 30 days, plus NY again at the end of the month. The documentary is for Global CCHANGE (pronounced “see-change”), an organization that is attempting to gain support for the development of a new global currency/health initiative. You can check out the concept video I made for Global CCHANGE about a year ago at the end of this post. I will blog about the shoots in each city.
I am also beginning scripting for a shoot I have at the end of this month for Julianne Dow, a Jin Shin Jitsu practitioner looking for a promotional piece for her website, which you can check out here. I’m currently working on WRVO Public Media’s next promotional piece for their website that will be done by the end of this year, with lots of shooting to do in-between. I recently made a promo for their intern program, which I will post at the end of this write-up as well. In my spare time I may be working on a 30 second MMA spot, but we’ll see what happens as this summer shapes up.
Feel free to comment on any of my posts as I get moving with this blog, I will reply as soon as I can. Thanks for reading!
